A Pro Tour system OK, but not with so many races, sometimes with too long stages.

Restrict the number of Pro Tour events. No doubt the 3 Major Tours should belong to a new style Pro Tour, just as the „real classic“ races. Add a few other events with a „history“.

Put the other races back in a Hors Category on a lower level.

Give the 16-18 „top-teams“ the chance to start in these events on a voluntary basis, with a certain amount of minimum events where they have to start.

Restrict the difficulties in stages of major Tours and the distance of some stages. Because it are the riders who are making the race interesting, not the length and/or (sometimes ridiculous) difficulties.

Re-introduce understandable and interesting rankings for the media and the public.

And forget about an „artificial“ and too hasty globalizing of Professional cycling, as was the intention of Mr Verbruggen, probably in favour of his own image and career planning in the IOC.

Reorganize the Professional teams

It was and becomes also more and more unbelievable for sponsors, the media and the public that former doping users are leading the teams as manager or sport director. The same is true for other members of the personnel and certainly for riders as well.

But as long as the chairman of the Professional Teams and of the Pro Tour Teams, Mr. Patrick Lefevere, is telling us that he is one of the leaders in the „fight against doping“, while we know that he used doping in his active career himself, we can only refer to the words of doctor de Mondenard (see above). He and his hypocrite colleagues, with the same past with doping-use, should disappear as soon as possible from the sportworld as a whole.

Try to improve the doping investigations but also the procedures. The intention of many organizations to intensify the doping control should be effective as soon as possible, hopefully in a good – international – cooperation.

But also the follow-up of positive doping controls should be dealed with much faster. It is completely ridiculous that the case of Floyd Landis, the number 1 of the TOUR 2006, is costing at least 11 months.

And the same is true for the handling of the Fuentes case by the Spanish authorities. Other governments and international sport organizations should put much more pressure on this „stinking Spanish scandal“, in which not only cyclists but also other sporters are involved.

Where for example is the IOC ?? This organization should have played a leading role, as sporters from different disciplines are involved in this case. But is Chairman Jacques Rogge perhaps sleeping or has he to defend other interests in this case?

This should underline only the words of doping opponent Alessandro Donati in Die Welt: Basso is just „eine Marionette“ (a „puppet“) in a „big game“, in which not only sporters, trainers and doctors are active, but often also Governments and media are playing a role (in the background) „Staatsdoping existiert noch“.

Die Puerto-Affäre brachte gravierende Dopingfälle im Radsport ans Licht. Wie alle anderen

Die Unsicherheit über die Identität der Fahrer und der anderen Personen, die in die Puerto-

Sanierung des Radsports leisten, indem ich die nachstehende Verpflichtung unterschreibe,
um zu zeigen, dass ich den Grundsätzen, die von der Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)
vertreten werden, voll beipflichte.

„Ich erkläre auf meine Ehre vor meiner Mannschaft, meinen Kollegen, der UCI, der
Radsportfamilie und dem Publikum, dass ich weder in die Puerto-Affäre noch in
irgendeine andere Dopinggeschichte verwickelt bin, und dass ich keinen Verstoss
gegen das Antidopingreglement der UCI begehen werde. Ich will meine Verpflichtung
damit unter Beweis stellen, dass ich zusätzlich zu den Sanktionen des Reglements
einen Beitrag an die Dopingbekämpfung in der Höhe meines Jahreslohns für 2007
leisten werde für den Fall, dass ich das Reglement verletzt haben sollte und zur
Standardsanktion der zweijährigen oder zu einer längeren Suspendierung verurteilt
werde, sei es im Rahmen der Puerto-Affäre oder in einem sonstigen
Antidopingverfahren.

Gleichzeitig erkläre ich der spanischen Justiz, dass ich ihr meine DNS zur Verfügung
halte, damit sie mit den Bluttaschen verglichen werden kann, die im Rahmen der
Puerto-Affäre beschlagnahmt wurden. Ich appelliere an die spanische Justiz, damit sie
diese Untersuchung so bald als möglich durchführt oder es der UCI erlaubt, sie zu
organisieren.

Ferner schliesse ich mich dem Willen der UCI an, meine Erklärung zu veröffentlichen.“
